Joss Favela "Alguien Especial"

First Stream Latin is a compilation of the best new Latin songs, albums and videos recommended by the Billboard Latin editors. Check out this week's picks below.

Joss Favela, “Alguien Especial” (Sony Music Latin)

In total pain and despair, Joss Favela presents “Alguien Especial,” a heartfelt ranchera about that special someone who walked away. “I wanted us to be so many things but sometimes, wanting is not enough,” he kicks off the song. Soul-striking guitar riffs and tuba melodies, among other instruments, bring the lyrics to life about a person who’s disappointed due to a lost love. Helmed by Latin Power Films Production, the music video was filmed at Ex Hacienda del Muerto and frames a reminiscent yet vulnerable Favela walking the deserts of Nuevo León. “Alguien Especial” forms part of Favela’s upcoming album Llegando al Rancho. -- JESSICA ROIZ

Christian Nodal & Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho, "2 Veces" (Universal Music México)

Christian Nodal and Los Plebes del Rancho join forces for "2 Veces," a heartbreak track that fuses Nodal's identifiable mariacheño sonority with Los Plebes' sierreño style. Penned by Nodal, Edgar Barrera and Horacio Palencia, the melancholic track marks the first-ever collab between the chart-topping regional Mexican artist and Los Plebes del Rancho. "2 Veces" finds Nodal and Los Plebes trading verses about realizing it's time to let go and step away from a toxic relationship. "It's clear that you don't deserve my love," Los Plebes sing. Nodal adds: "It's better that you leave. Because you're not supposed to hurt someone that loves you." -- GRISELDA FLORES

Natti Natasha, Farina & Cazzu feat. La Duraca, "Las Nenas" (Pina Records/Sony Music Latin)

Teaming up with Colombia’s Farina, Argentina’s Cazzu and Puerto Rico newcomer La Duraca, Natti Natasha is out to send an important message with her unapologetic perreo “Las Nenas.” “I feel that it’s necessary to end the stigma that girls don’t collaborate because they are competitive and they are rivals,” she told Billboard. A vibrant music video, directed by Daniel Duran in Miami, features all four artists breaking the rules and partying on their own terms. “Alone or together, we’re all one,” Natti chants in the song. At the end of the music video, Becky G makes a cameo, where she’s seen picking up Natti from a crazy house party the morning after. “It’s a continuation, there’s something coming,” Natti says, hinting at another collaboration with Becky. -- J.R.

Tainy, Becky G & Trevor Daniel, "F Is for Friends" (Interscope Records)

Spongebob's "F.U.N Song" gets a new twist thanks to hitmaker Tainy, who teamed up with Becky G and Trevor Daniel for "F Is for Friends." The heartwarming pop track is the new single from the upcoming official SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run album -- entirely produced by NEON16 and Interscope Records -- and follows the summer banger "Agua" featuring J Balvin and Tainy. "It’s one of my favorite SpongeBob songs ever and obviously the twist on it and being something that’s not cartoony or cheesy, but this song actually represents something," says Becky G, who owns the song’s chorus, on which she sings, "F is for friends who do stuff together. And I like you by my side. Got your back and you got mine." -- G.F.

Camilo, Mis Manos (Hecho a Mano/Sony Music Latin)

Born during the global pandemic, while in lockdown with his wife, actress-singer Evaluna Montaner, Camilo presents his sophomore album Mis Manos. “The most beautiful things come out of the most complex moments,” he told Billboard. “Frustration invokes a lot more creativity.” Home to 11 tracks, including the previously released “Vida de Rico,” “Bebé” with El Alfa, and “Ropa Cara,” Camilo experiments with new rhythms such as bachata, calypso, cumbia, regional Mexican, and even perreo. Collaborators on this set include El Alfa, Evaluna, Mau y Ricky and Los Dos Carnales. Mis Manos closes with his rendition of the holiday classica “5 pal las 12.” A modern-day troubadour whose rhythmic pop fusions are the canvas for his sincere lyrics, Camilo says Mis Manos is “an exploration of all sides of my identity.” -- J.R.

Nino Augustine & Goyo, "Sexy Body" (Expressions From the Heart Music/Factoría Sounds)

Nino Augustine & Goyo bless fans with the sultry bilingual song "Sexy Body." The Afrobeat-driven hypnotic tune is Goyo's first project outside of ChocQuibTown, but still the Colombian hip-hop group added their signature sound with Slow Mike on the the track's production. "Sexy Body" dropped alongside a music video directed by Jimmy Usma that invokes retro pop culture. "Sexy Body" is the second single from the Atlanta-based Panamanian artist's upcoming album Global Ninz, set to drop March 26 via Factoría Sounds. -- G.F.

Anuel AA, “Conversación con Dios” (SpiffTV/Cinq Music Group)

If the lyrics in “Conversación con Dios” are any indication, Anuel AA is heartbroken. Surprising fans with a new track on Friday (March 5), the Puerto Rican star opens up about a “conversation he had with God,” where he talks about infidelity, imperfections and learning from his mistakes. “I know that I lied to you/ But I regret it/ I slept with her/ But I love you,” he chants in the lyrics. The infectious trap song was produced by SpiffTV and is accompanied by an animated music video that shows Anuel as a devil and his lady interest as an angel. “I recorded this song in 2013,” the singer clarified on social media. “You are such a legend that a song you created years ago is still a success now,” replied Carlos “Spiff TV” Suarez. “This is for the fans, your music is eternal.” -- J.R.

Ovi, Retumba2 (Rancho Humilde)

Reuniting some of the biggest names in reggaeton and trap, the fast-rising Cuban-born rapper's Retumba2 features hard-hitting tracks fused with Latin trap and his signature corridos tumbados. Released via Rancho Humilde under Warner Music Latina, the 15-song set includes fiery collabs with Zion & Lennox, Ñengo Flow, Justin Quiles and Arcangel, along with labelmates Natanael Cano and Junior H. Retumba2 is a rapid successor to his 2020 album Buen Viaje. -- G.F.
