The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2020 Latin Grammys Awards on Tuesday (Sept. 29), with reggaetón artists J Balvin, Bad Bunny and Ozuna leading the list. Balvin’s 13 nods for the 21st annual Latin Grammys make him the lead nominee. He’s followed by Bunny with nine entries and Ozuna with eight.

The best new artist category, which Venezuelan artist Nella won last year, is led by Anuel AA -- who has six other nominations -- and includes well-known contenders like Rauw Alejandro, Mike Bahía, Nicki Nicole and Cazzu. Added to the mix are Nathy Peluso, Pitizion, Conociendo Rusia, Soy Emilia, Kurt and Wos.

The Latin Grammys air Nov. 19 on the Univision network. Meet the 2020 best new artist nominees below.

Anuel AA

In 2018, Anuel AA released his debut album Real Hasta La Muerte, which demonstrated his impressive skills as a hitmaker and songwriter and his ability to also make radio-friendly and mainstream hits by fusing pop and urban. Since then, Anuel has cemented his position as a trap superstar, delivering back-to-back reggaeton and trap anthems. This year, Anuel delivered his soul-baring album Emmanuel, which is up for best urban music album.

Rauw Alejandro

The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter might be one of the new faces of urbano, but he's already making a splash thanks to his fresh take on reggaetón, which he often fuses with R&B. Inspired by Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, as well as Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel and Ozuna, the 27-year-old artist boasts collaborations with reggaeton veterans including Nicky Jam, Farruko and Ozuna.

Mike Bahía

The 34-year-old Colombian singer started his career nearly eight years ago with the rock band Capzula from his native Cali, Colombia. He then pursued his career as a soloist, releasing his first song in 2015 titled "Buscándote." Two years later, the pop and urban singer released his first album, Yo Soy, produced by Sky. His latest collab with Llane, PJ Sin Suela and Mozart La Para, the reggae-infused "Cuenta Conmigo," has more than 24 million views to date.

After experimenting with genres like rock, cumbia and reggae, Cazzu found her calling when she started singing reggaeton and trap. The up-and-coming Argentine artist is making waves in the urbano space thanks to her honest and poetic lyrics that embrace and celebrate femininity.

Conociendo Rusia

Led by Mateo Sujatovich, the rock/pop band is a standout in the Argentine rock scene. Often singing about young love, Conociendo Rusia is gaining momentum in their native Argentina since their debut in 2018. In 2019, the band performed at Lollapalooza Argentina which was headlined by artists like Twenty One Pilots and Post Malone.

Soy Emilia

In 2010, Soy Emilia kicked off her career as a bassist and backup singer for Esteman. But it wasn't until last year that the Colombian singer-songwriter released her debut pop album Reconstrucción. The 12-track set is packed with retro-like dreamy pop anthems like "Mala Intención" and "Cactux."

Promising Mexican pop act Kurt has won hearts over thanks to his ultra romantic songs like "La Mujer Perfecta" and "Sé Fuerte Corazón." His debut album En Medio De Este Ruido, released in 2019, not only shows off his ethereal vocals, but also his songwriting craftsmanship.

Nicki Nicole

At the age of 17, Nicki Nicole started experimenting with hip-hop after meeting friends who would freestyle in the streets. Her open-minded musical upbringing informs the R&B and trap fusions that she both sings and raps on -- and has helped her stand out in an increasingly crowded field of emerging Argentine trap artists.

Nathy Peluso

Born in Argentina, Nathy Peluso is a standout thanks to her distinct voice and fusion of genres like pop, hip-hop, jazz and rap. Songs like "Sana Sana" and "Business Woman" will hypnotize you and introduce you to Peluso's alternate reality.

Colombian artist Pitizion has showed off her prowess as a songwriter thanks to raw and honest lyrics that often tell her life's story. The rising artist is known for combining emotional lyrics with pop beats and incorporates urban strokes and touches of rap.

Born Valentín Oliva, the Argentine rapper started his career freestyling in the streets of Argentina. In 2018, the rising rapper the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos, described as one of the most important rap competitions in Latin America. In 2019, Wos released his debut album titled Caravana.
