Every Latin Album Release in May: Ricardo Arjona, Kany Garcia, Christian Nodal & More

The next two weeks will be filled with new music as Latin artists drop new albums by the end of the month, which coincides with the Latin Grammy's submission deadline of May 31.

On that date, to be considered worthy of recognition in the Latin Grammy process, artists must have entered recordings and music videos released during the eligibility period (June 1, 2019 – May 31, 2020).

The long list includes releases by Ricardo Arjona, who will drop Blanco, the first album from his Blanco y Negro project, Chiquis' Playlist and Carlos Vives' Cumbiana, an homage to the origins of cumbia.

Below, check out all the releases coming out in May.

MAY 22:

Carlos Vives - Cumbiana (Sony Music Latin)

The Colombian singer-songwriter's fourteenth studio album is a sonic exploration of the origins of cumbia. The ten-song set is a diverse collection of music of Latin rhythms ranging from salsa and reggaetón fusions to the iconic vallenato accordion. Featured collabs include Rubén Blades, Jessie Reyez and Ziggy Marley. 

Axel Muñiz - Magia EP (Warner Music Latina)

Hailing from Mexico City, Latin pop artist and musician, Axel Muñiz will drop his EP coined Magia under Warner Music Mexico on Friday, May 22. Muñiz is currently making the rounds with his new single “Regalame” alongside PeeWee.

Neto Bernal - Después de Hoy (Universal Music Latino - Fonovisa Records)

Rising regional Mexican singer Neto Bernal's second album under Fonovisa Records is a 12-track set that includes covers by other renowned singers and songs penned by Bernal such as "Después de Hoy." 

Luis Coronel - Una Historia Mas (Sony Music Latin)

As Coronel continues to cement his mark in the regional Mexican genre, his fourth studio album thrives on traditional banda sound from Sinaloa, Mexico. The 10-set track also explores other genres like cumbia in collaboration with Los Ángeles Azules.

Debi Nova - 3:33 (Sony Music Latin)

Costa Rican singer-songwriter Debi Nova will release her fourth studio album 3:33, paying tribute to not only love and life but her personal and musical journeys. Nova’s recent collaboration with Pedro Capó, “Quedate,” forms part of the set, released via Sony Music Centroamerica & Caribe.

T3r Elemento - Buenas Vibras (live) (DEL Records)

After releasing Buenas Vibras in November, DEL Record's T3R Elemento will gift fans with a live version of the album which includes corridos to their first-ever bachata track "Solo Yo Sé La Razón."

Lagos - Primavolta EP (Warner Music Latina)

Highlighted as one of Billboard’s Latin duo or groups to discover during quarantine, Venezuelan duo, LAGOS, will drop their EP called Primavolta, which includes their recent single “Cuerno” in collaboration with Las Villa. 

MC Ceja & Polakan - El Comienzo del fin Mendoza y Ortega Vol. 1 (GLAD Empire)

Puerto Rican hip-hop artists MC Ceja and Polakan are teaming up for a new EP called El Comienzo del fin Mendoza y Ortega Vol. 1 released under GLAD Empire. The set’s focus track, “Enterrarlos,” drops with the album on May 22.

Sech - 1 of 1 (Rich Music)

After dropping his debut album Sueños in 2019, Sech presents his sophomore set 1 of 1 under Rich Music. The Panamanian-born, Latin Grammy-nominated artist will drop 21 fresh tracks including his already-released singles “Casino,” “Trofeo,” and “Relacion.”

Alaina Castillo - Mensajes de Voz (Chosen People)

Featured as one of our Latina artists to discover during quarantine, the Texas-born singer-songwriter will release the Spanish version of her EP the voicenotes released earlier this year.

Los Dos de Tamaulipas - Pa' Llegar a Ser Grande (AfinArte Music)

Los Dos de Tamaulipas will drop their new EP Pa' Llegar a Ser Grande via AfinArte Music on Friday, May 22. Currently, the Regional Mexican act is making the rounds with their catchy corrido named after the upcoming production.

MAY 28: 

Kany Garcia - Mesa Para Dos (Sony Music Latin)

The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter took to social media to tease her forthcoming album Mesa Para Dos. "I must stay home but next week, you will be free," she posted on Instagram.

Guaynaa - BRB (Universal Music Latino)

In the middle of a global pandemic and quarantine, Guaynaa is keeping fans entertained on TikTok and releasing new music. The Puerto Rican artist will drop his new EP BRB, under Universal Music Latino, on May 28.

CIRCO - Adiós Hola (Sony Music Latin)

After a thirteen years hiatus, the Puerto Rican alt-rock band returns with a new album titled Adiós Hola. The new album promises to be a fusion of sounds including retro pop, electro, alternative, new wave, post punk and psychedelia.

MAY 29:

Ricardo Arjona - Blanco (Sony Music Latin)

Ricardo Arjona prepares to make his highly-awaited comeback with the release of his new album Blanco, the first set of his two-part album Blanco y Negro. Blanco is set to be released on May 29 and Negro in 2021. In early May, Arjona presented the first single, “Hongos,” an honest hymn that reflects his truest self and authentic artistry.

Enrique Bunbury - Posible 

Described as Bunbury's most personal, radical and innovative album yet, the Spanish rock icon's forthcoming album will drop at the end of May after postponing the release of Posible set to drop in April.

Dinámicos Jrs - Remembranza (AfinArte Music)

Currently making the rounds with "Perdon Amor, Perdon," the five-member group Dinámicos Jrs will soon drop their new studio album Remembranza under AfinArte Music, promising fans more Norteño tracks to enjoy during quarantine.

Natanael Cano - Corridos Tumbados II (Rancho Humilde)

Rancho Humilde's Corridos Tumbados is back with part two featuring the label's regional urban artists leading the corridos tumbados movement like chart-topping artists Natanael Cano and Junior H.

Chiquis - Playlist (Universal Music Latino)

Chiquis is not only making the rounds with her new single “Con La Misma Bala,” but she’s also preparing to give her loyal Boss Bee Nation fresh music. The Regional Mexican artist will soon release Playlist under Universal Music Latino.

Christian Nodal - AyAyAy! (Universal Music Latino)

After dropping his award-winning productions, Me Deje Llevar (2017) and Ahora (2019), Christian Nodal will soon launch AyAyAy! The EP features Nodal’s latest singles “Se Me Olvido” and “AyAyAy!,” both which show Nodal’s playful side.

Banda Los Sebastianes - Traigo Sal (Universal Music Latino)

Banda Los Sebastianes' Traigo Sal follows their Latin Grammy-winning album A Través del Vaso. 

Mala Rodriguez - Mala (Universal Music Latino)

Latin Grammy Award-winning Spanish hip-hop rapper Mala Rodriguez will release her new studio album Mala, under Universal Music Latino, on May 29th. Making the rounds with “Dame Bien,” “Mami,” and soon-to-be released “Peleadora,” the album follows her 2013 set Bruja.

Austeros de Durango - Pa' la ranchereada Disco con Tololoche (AfinArte Music) 

Durango-based Norteño group Austeros de Durango are set to release their new studio album Pa' la ranchereada Disco con Tololoche on May 29 via AfinArte Music. Recently, the group presented their virtual concert to keep fans entertained during quarantine.
