Julieta Venegas, Draco Rosa, Chris Martin, Juanes & More to Perform at Soda Stereo Farewell US Tour

Julieta Venegas

Julieta Venegas performs at the Solis theater in Montevideo on Dec. 7, 2019.

Last year, Soda Stereo bassist Zeta Bosio and drummer Charly Alberti announced that the Gracias Totales tour would visit New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Houston. On Tuesday (Feb. 4), they unveiled the tour's special guest performers, who will take the stage to sing some of the band’s greatest hits and honor the legacy of late frontman Gustavo Cerati.

More than 10 years after Cerati last set foot on a stage at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena in 2007, Soda Stereo’s members -- joined by a roster of special guests via in-person or audiovisual format -- will perform some of their timeless hits, such as “De Musica Ligera,” “Persiana Americana,” “Tratame Suavemente” and more.

Artists confirmed to be part of the U.S. tour include Richard Coleman, first Soda Stereo vocalist and Cerati’s great friend; Aterciopelados’ Andrea Echeverri; Draco Rosa; Gustavo Santaolalla; and Julieta Venegas. Coleman, Draco, Santaolalla and Venegas will join Zeta and Charly at their shows in New York and Miami. Echeverri will then take over Venegas' spot at the Los Angeles and Houston shows.

Joining via video are Rubén Albarrán from Café Tacvba; Cerati’s son Benito; Babasonicos’ Adrián Dárgelos; Los Tres and Pettinellis’ Álvaro Henríquez; Juanes; Mon Laferte; León Larregui; Fernando Ruiz Díaz from Catupecu Machu; and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

The tour, presented by Loud and Live and Move Concerts, will honor the late Argentine frontman and guitarist Gustavo Cerati, who died on Sept. 4, 2014, after suffering a stroke. According to an official statement, technology will allow Cerati’s voice and image to be part of the show.

The Gracias Totales tour marks Soda’s farewell trek. Tickets are already on sale via Ticketmaster.
