You Won't Believe This Rosalía Figurine That's Topping Christmas Lists in Catalunya

Rosalia

Rosalia performs on stage during MadCool Festival Presentation Party on July 10, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

A figurine depicting Spanish singer Rosalía squatting without pants on over a pile of steaming poop is the hit of the holiday season in Catalunya.

But don't worry, the figurine is not as defaming as it may look: Such squatting figures, called Caganers (which literally translates to "crapper"), are a traditional part of the Catalan Christmas celebration. A requisite for household nativity scenes, they can be found hidden in a corner of the display featuring Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.

The Caganers are said to bring good luck. They also serve as a form of satire, finding inspiration in the past year’s headlines, representing presidents literally with their pants down (Trump and Boris Johnson Caganers are currently abound), and paying homage to popular figures like environmental activist Greta Thunberg, soccer star Lionel Messi, the late legend David Bowie and iconic Star Wars character Luke Skywalker.

Rather than an insult, Rosalía’s inclusion in the "crapper" catalogue is an honor, a sign, in Catalan terms, that she has indeed arrived. The Rosalía “action figures” were reportedly selling out at Barcelona Christmas markets, and the caganer website caganer.com also quickly exhausted its supply.

The company’s communication’s manager assured Billboard that a new stock of Rosalía Caganers are in and available for international shipping today (Dec. 11). Get yours here, and take a look at Rosalía's oh-so-poopular figurine below.
