Meet the 2019 Latin AMAs Nominees for Favorite Regional Mexican Artist

Ahead of the fifth annual Latin American Music Awards on Oct. 17, Billboard highlights the four artists nominated for favorite Regional Mexican artist. This year, the Latin AMAs nominations go out to Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga, Christian Nodal, T3R Elemento and Calibre 50

The 2019 nominees were announced Sept. 4, with Ozuna leading the pack with nine nominations, followed by Bad Bunny (eight), Romeo Santos (eight) and Anuel AA (seven). Artists such as CNCO, Gente de Zona, Farruko and Emilia have been confirmed to perform during the awards show.

The Latin AMAs will air live at 8 p.m. ET on Oct. 17 from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood via Telemundo. The awards show will be preceded by a one-hour red carpet pre-show called “La Alfombra de Latin AMAs,” kicking off at 7 p.m. ET. Meet the four artists nominated for favorite Regional Mexican artist below.

Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga

Founded in 2003, Banda MS, from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, is up for five nominations this year, becoming the most-nominated Regional Mexican act at the 2019 Latin AMAs. In addition to favorite Regional Mexican artist, the group is nominated for artist of the year, favorite duo or group, favorite Regional Mexican album for Con Todas Las Fuerzas, and favorite Regional Mexican song for “Mejor Me Alejo.” They are best known for their heartfelt hits such as “El Color de tus Ojos,” “Solo con Verte” and “Tu Postura.”

Christian Nodal

In addition to favorite Regional Mexican artist, Christian Nodal has two other noms: artist of the year and favorite Regional Mexican song for “No Te Contaron Mal.” Nodal, who’s making the rounds with “Perdoname” and “Pa’ Olvidarme De Ella” in collaboration with Piso 21, is part of Billboard’s 21 Under 21 list this year. Besides being a nominee, the 20-year-old singer from Sonora, Mexico, will perform at the awards.

T3R Elemento

Following Banda MS, T3R Elemento is the second-most-nominated Regional Mexican act at the 2019 Latin AMAs. Their four nominations include favorite duo or group, favorite Regional Mexican album for The Green Trip, favorite Regional Mexican song for “Aerolínea Carrillo” featuring Gerardo Ortiz, and favorite Regional Mexican artist. T3R Elemento is known for hits “Fire Up,” “De Periodico un Gallito” and “Mi Religion.”

Calibre 50

With their Norteño-Banda melodies, Calibre 50 loves to croon their fans with romantic songs such as “Mi Sorpresa Fuiste Tu,” “Amor del Bueno,” “Contigo” and “Siempre Te Voy a Querer.” Currently, the Sinaloa-based group is making the rounds with their latest studio album, Simplemente Gracias. Calibre 50, which formed in 2010 by Eden Muñoz, is nominated at the 2019 Latin AMAs for favorite Regional Mexican artist.
