Becky G’s 2019 has been everything but unstoppable. So far this year, the Mexican-American artist has dropped music in Spanish and English, such as her singles “La Respuesta,” “Dollar” and “Secrets.” She also teamed up with various artists from different genres, including Colombian act Maluma, Brazilian star Anitta, country artist Kane Brown, and most recently, K-pop sensation J-Hope of BTS

On Friday (Sept. 27), both Becky and the Korean rapper took the internet by storm when they surprised fans with their first-ever collaboration on “Chicken Noodle Soup.” The track is a trilingual bop (Korean, Spanish & English) that samples the party hit with the same title released originally by Webstar, Young B and the Voice of Harlem in 2006.

As “Chicken Noodle Soup” makes the rounds 13 years later, Billboard compares the original and new trilingual versions below.

Title: “Chicken Noodle Soup”

Artist: Webstar and Young B featuring the Voice of Harlem

Release year: 2006

Song: New York-based DJ Webstar joined forces with female rapper Young B and the Voice of Harlem to drop “Chicken Noodle Soup” in 2006. The song, which is made distinct by its club bass melodies and siren sounds, became a party favorite thanks to its accompanying choreography that originated in Harlem -- and became a viral sensation. The dance consists of arm shuffling and side-to-side feet movement, describing the song’s playful lyrics. On the Billboard Hot 100 chart, “Chicken Noodle Soup” peaked at No. 45 on Oct. 21, 2006.

Video: Although the song dropped in 2006, the music video was posted on Webstar’s YouTube channel on November 22, 2009. The clip shows locals during a hot day in New York City as the artists perform the song in the streets of Harlem and a group of dancers perform the catchy choreography. At the time of publishing, the music video had over 12 million views.

Title: “Chicken Noodle Soup”

Artist: J-Hope featuring Becky G

Release year: 2019

Song: J-Hope and Becky G teamed up to bring back an early 2000s classic with their trilingual version of “Chicken Noodle Soup.” In the single, which premiered at the end of September, Hope raps in Korean, while Becky G delivers verses in Spanish and English. Both artists contributed to writing their lyrics. Leaving the siren out and sampling its catchy lyrics, the song has been revamped with head-bopping hip-hop and rock melodies.

Video: Directed by Lumpens, the music video follows J-Hope and Becky G around a parking lot showing their killer dance moves alongside over fifty dancers from regions all around the world. In its first 12 hours, the music video amassed over 12 million views, becoming the second trending video on YouTube on its release date. Both Hope and Becky pay homage to the original “Chicken Noodle Soup” choreography.
