Over six years have passed since Alejandro Sanz last set foot in the American Airlines Arena in Miami during his La Música No Se Toca Tour. But despite the time, Sanz stayed loyal to his 305 fans, assuring them one thing during his #LaGira tour stop on Saturday (Sept. 7): “Miami, when I saw you for the first time, I fell in love and now that we’re older, I continue loving you.”
Sanz kicked off his concert at 8:22 p.m., moments after opening act Cuban sensation Cimafunk. On six screens at the top of the stage, black-and-white videos presented the crucial part of Sanz’s concert: his 12 band members. “Miami, so what?” the Spanish singer asked the crowd ahead of the opening title “Hoy Que No Estas.” “It’s such a pleasure seeing you here, thank you for coming,” he said. “We are home.”
As the night unfolded, Sanz crooned the crowd with songs from his new album #ElDisco, including “Back to the City,” “Te Canto un Son” and “Mi Persona Favorita.” He also dropped some classics such as “Mi Marciana” and “Aquello Que Me Diste” before closing off his show at around 10:15 p.m. with “Corazon Partio.” “Don’t waste your time on dumb things. Only on being happy,” Sanz signed off.
