In 1999, Latin music became unavoidably popular, especially after Ricky Martin’s Grammy performance, which led to a Latin pop explosion.

But the Puerto Rican singer was not the only artist to stand out during the last year of the '90s. Shakira, Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez also scored hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart in 1999. Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony – “No Me Ames”

Peaked at No. 1 on chart dated June 26, 1999.  "No Me Ames" was part of Lopez album debut On the 6.

Jerry Rivera – “Ese”

Peaked at No. 1 on the chart dated Jan. 30, 1999. Rivera's hit was included in De Otra Manera album.

Shakira – “Tu”

Shakira's "Tu" is from her Donde Estan Los Ladrones album. The song peaked at No. 1 on the chart dated Feb. 20, 1999.

Marco Antonio Solis – “Si Te Pudiera Mentir”

"Si Te Pudiera Mentir" peaked at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated March 13, 1999.

Alejandro Fernández – “Loco”

Peaked at No. 1 on the chart dated Aug. 21, 1999.

Enrique Iglesias – “Bailamos”

Twenty years ago, Enrique Iglesias heated up the summer with "Bailamos." The song peaked at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated July 10, 1999.
