From a prolific acting career in Hollywood to owning taco restaurants and doughnut shops, Danny Trejo is now dipping his toes in the music industry by unveiling his own record label called Trejo’s Music, Billboard can exclusively reveal.
The Mexican-American actor has partnered with Silent Giant Entertainment president and producer, Edward “E-Dub” Rios, and artist and BashTown Music CEO, Baby Bash, to give life to his first album dubbed Danny Trejo Presents Chicano Soul Shop Vol. 1. The record features music from established artists such as Frankie J, Baby Bash and Chiquis Rivera to emerging artists such as Tarah New and Trish Toledo.
“I want to support new talents,” Trejo told Billboard over the phone. “In about three to four months, we’re hoping to host an open audition for new talent,” he notes, emphasizing that the sole reason he launched his own record label was to help emerging artists.
