Brazilian Singer Gabriel Diniz Dies in Plane Crash at 28

The 28-year-old pop star died Monday, according to published reports, as the recording artist is memorialized by family, friends and fans.

As news spread around the world that pop singer/songwriter Gabriel Diniz died in a plane crash, fans of the Brazilian artist took to social media to pay their respects in heartfelt tributes, videos and notes of sympathy. On Monday, Diniz's plane reportedly crashed in Porto do Mato in Estância, located on the southern coast of Sergipe, Brazil's smallest state.   

More than 4.5 million Instagram followers on Diniz's verified account wrote in the comments section of the singer's final post from a May 26 performance. "Always a joy to return to Feira de Santana and be greeted with such joy and with so much positive energy," Diniz wrote on his final post, concluding with, "Thank you for the kindness guys."   

Reports indicate that the plane departed from Salvador-Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport with its destination being Maceió-Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport. According to reports, Diniz was on his way to attend a birthday celebration for his girlfriend. The plane's pilots, Linaldo Xavier and Abraão Farias, also reportedly died in the crash.
