Ozuna Says He Was 'Shocked' and 'In Awe' When He Discovered Selena Gomez Was Joining 'Taki Taki'
This week’s Billboard cover star Ozuna took some time during his magazine photo shoot to play “First Best Last Worst,” as he revealed the first time he was recognized in public, the best memory of being on set with DJ Snake, Cardi B and Selena Gomez, the last movie that made him laugh, and the worst date he's ever been on.
Asked to recall the first moment a fan noticed him in public, Ozuna tells Billboard that he was working at his grandmother’s store, where she sells women’s clothing and accessories, when he was spotted by a shopper.
“I saw music as a big career opportunity but I still thought it was out of reach and I had to keep working,” he says. “While I was working, a girl approached me and said, ‘Aren’t you the guy that sings such and such song? Can I get a photo with you, please?’ That’s when I said things are starting to work out now.”
Ozuna also opens up about his experience working with DJ Snake, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez on “Taki Taki," admitting that when he began working on it, he was not aware that there would be so many stars involved.
“I finished the song quickly because DJ Snake wanted me to,” says Ozuna. “He had the concept for it and wanted me to do the song but he never told me who else would be on it. Cardi B recorded her part, but I still didn’t know Selena Gomez was on it until the music video. When I saw Selena Gomez, I was in shock! I was in awe and my jaw dropped! I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it.”
