J Balvin, "Reggaeton"

As 2018 came to an end, J Balvin surprised not only fans but colleagues with his track “Reggaeton.”

The single, released on Nov. 16, pays tribute to the urban genre and Puerto Rican culture, giving a special shout-out to Daddy Yankee for being an inspiration. The music video further highlights old-school reggaeton artists, including Zion & Lennox, Nicky Jam and Don Omar, to name a few.

Nearly four months after its release, “Reggaeton” enters the top 10 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, bumping 13-6 on the chart dated March 30. This is also Balvin’s 18th top 10.

As the song continues making the rounds, check out what the lyrics are all about in the English lyric translation below.

Are we killing the game or are we not killing the game?

If the people want it

J Balvin, men

If the people want it

Leggo, leggo

If the people want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I won’t deny it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

If the ladies want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I’ll give it to them (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

And if the people want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I won’t deny it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

If the ladies want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I’ll give it to them (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

(She’s asking, she’s asking; leggo)

Play it, DJ, now and fast

Everyone to the dance floor, and shake that booty without fear

Don’t kill my vibe at this time and enjoy it

Add flavor to it, mami, like Tego says (El Abayarde)

You already know who they are

I stand out in the crowd

God bless reggaeton, amen

Get down, that’s how I do

Yankee was my inspiration

It’s strong like rum

Her skirt and my pants

Dancing reggaeton (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I won’t deny it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

If the ladies want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I’ll give it to them (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

And if the people want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I won’t deny it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

If the ladies want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I’ll give it to them (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

Reggaeton makes her freaky

She gets closes like Kiki

Like Yaviah with the “Wiki Wiki”

The crazy life like Ricky

Don’t act picky

That I’ve seen you smoke krippy

You already know who they are

I stand out in the crowd

God bless reggaeton, amen

Get down, that’s how I do

Yankee was my inspiration

It’s strong like rum

If the people want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I won’t deny it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

If the ladies want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I’ll give it to them (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

And if the people want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I won’t deny it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

If the ladies want it (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

I’ll give it to them (Reggaetón, reggaetón)

(She’s asking, she’s asking; leggo)
