Kany García’s very personal, yet commercially appealing and adaptable brand of pop hit a high note Saturday night (Feb. 2) during the sold-out kick-off of her Soy Yo tour (named after her acclaimed album) at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan.

García performed with several of her friends, including Pedro Capó, with whom she sang “Mis amigos” and Capó’s current hit, “Calma.”

García’s guest list also included René Pérez, with whom she performed the saucy “Banana Papaya,” featured in Soy Yo. She was also joined by “Los hijos de cañaveral,” and longtime pal and "Quédate" cowriter Tommy Torres.

Perhaps the most surprising guest, given that García is well-established as a singer/songwriter, was reggaetón star Natti Natasha. The two women sang “Sin Pijama,” Natasha’s hit with Becky G, and “Mía,” a song García wrote for Natasha’s upcoming album.

In a nod to upcoming artists, García had two new artists -- Puerto Rican singer/songwriters Lisbeth Román and Andrea Cruz -- open up the show. Prior to the performance, García noted that over a decade ago, veteran had singer/songwriter Franco de Vita had invited her to open up his shows. This was her way of giving back.

García's tour continues in Mexico and Central America before returning to Puerto Rico.
