The Colombian artist said he had a ‘rupture’ in his knee ligaments for ‘about 8 months’

Maluma took to social media on Tuesday morning (Jan. 15) to give fans an update on his ruptured knee.

The reggaeton singer-songwriter confirmed that he is suffering from a bad knee in a Spanish statement to his 38 million followers via Instagram Story, thanking them for their sweet notes. “Thank you all for your messages of encouragement in this process that I am now in,” he wrote. “For eight months, I had a rupture in the ligaments of my right knee.”

Maluma further explained that although he knew of the state of his knee, he continued his 2018 F.A.M.E. Tour of the United States and made other appearances along the way. “That’s exactly how I did all of the activities and the whole tour #fame," he said.

The 24-year-old then stated that he is now focusing on recovering so that he can give “the best of himself” this year. “I ask you for a small prayer that will surely fill me with a lot of light and motivation,” he wrote. “Thank you again for being so attentive and wishing me a speedy recovery."

The message comes a day after the self proclaimed “pretty boy” posted a photo in a hospital bed while giving the camera a peace sign. He captioned the photo, “We are always positive.”
