The series premieres Sunday on Telemundo.

Telemundo is ready to premiere the first season of La Voz (The Voice) on Sunday, with Luis Fonsi, Alejandra Guzman, Carlos Vives and Wisin as coaches, all of whom are eager to have the opportunity to work with new talent.

During the blind-audition process, Billboard had access to speak with Fonsi, Guzman and Vives, while Wisin was contacted through his team because he had commitments in Puerto Rico at that time.  The four coaches expressed what they are looking for in the next star, who is their biggest opponent and more

Who is the ideal talent you are looking for on La Voz?

Alejandra Guzman: I'm looking for a special voice, but a person who is a risky star.

Luis Fonsi: I look for a different voice from the point of view of what a label wants. I think the world wants something refreshing. I want it to be very authentic.

Carlos Vives: I'm looking for a voice that comes from the heart, that feels pride for its roots, that has a Latin soul. The United States is a very diverse country, I like diversity.

Wisin: I am looking for the best voices for my team regardless of musical genre. It is important to have the talent so that together with producers we can merge rhythms and sounds to be able to sing responsibly.

What makes you different from other coaches?

Alejandra Guzman: I'm different first because I'm a woman and then I’m a rocker.

Luis Fonsi: I'm the quiet one.

Carlos Vives: My origin and my musical career.

Wisin:  That blocked button is something that has to do with a strategy. They will have to see what happened.

Which coach is your biggest opponent?

Alejandra Guzman: No one is my competition. They have theirs and I have mine. And believe me, when I want something, I have my tricks.

Luis Fonsi: Wisin, because he is also Puerto Rican, but I think I have no competition.

Carlos Vives: Luis Fonsi for his youth, for his experience.

Wisin:  The three coaches have something important to offer - if you are achieving success year after year and you remain current in this world you are doing something right.
