Anuel AA knows what he wants. And he goes out and gets it.

The Puerto Rican trap singer is currently on the road, taking his music to 20 cities in the U.S. with his Real Hasta La Muerte tour which, on Saturday (Dec. 8), made its stop in Miami, Fla.

Billboard had an exclusive backstage pass to speak with the Latin artist (real name Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago) before going out on stage for his first show ever at the American Airlines Arena.

Anuel AA mingled in his dressing room with his team and friends, including Prince Royce, who dropped in to congratulate the artist, who walked free in July after serving time on gun possession charges. The headliner's wardrobe, which included a bulletproof vest and a hood, on standby for showtime.

In a brief sit-down, Anuel AA talked bout the tour, Karol G, his new song with Nicki Minaj and he gave a message of support incarcerated rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine.  Read the exclusive interview below.

Billboard: How do you feel being in Miami performing for the first time?

Anuel AA: I am very happy. Even though Puerto Rico will always be my hometown, I feel Miami is my second home.

Your concert in Puerto Rico got canceled, but you’re about to wrap up your first U.S. tour.  What did you learn from the Real Hasta La Muerte tour?

I learned to forget everything. To concentrate on my music and thank God for all good moments. Because the positive attracts the positive. You must work, work and work to get the most out of it.

What is your best memory of the tour?

The best memory has been with La Bebesita (Karol G) in New York. But, today, will be an amazing show with my surprise guest, who is Bad Bunny. For the first time we are going to perform live, we have never done it before.

How was your birthday with Karol G?

It was a beautiful moment but I can’t answer those questions (laughs).

As you know, one of your friends, Tekashi 6ix9ine is in jail.  If you have the opportunity, right now, to speak with him what would you say to him?

He is a man. The only thing that I would tell him is to hold his head up and not to let himself fall. To put all his faith in God.

You surprised us with a new song with Nicki Minaj. How did this collab come about?

The song is part of the Spider-Man movie, which will be released on Dec. 14. The song is called “Familia” and it carries a positive message, nothing compared to the songs that are for the club. The collaboration was thanks to my former manager, Spiff TV.

What are you doing in New Year Eve?

I am going to Latin America for a show.  I am still waiting for the judge to approve the permit since I'm still under probation.
