Raphael, Jorge Drexler, Jose Merce, Estopa & More Artists Perform 'Volando Voy' in Epic Tribute Video
More than 20 artists gather in Madrid to make a video of flamenco icon Camarón de la Isla’s classic.
Raphael, Jorge Drexler, Jose Merce, Estopa, Rozalén, Javiera Mena, Vetusta Morla, Nathy Peluso and Rocio Marquéz are among more than 20 artists who participated in a new video homage to flamenco icon Camarón de la Isla’s classic “Volando Voy.”
The multi-generational, multi-genre gathering of artists in Madrid also included Kike Veneno, who composed the lyrics of the infectious rumba flamenco song, which became a standard in Spain after it was released on Camerón’s 1979 album La Leyenda del Tiempo.
Alba Molina, Niño de Elche, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Alejo Stivel, Brisa Fenoy, Manuel Blanco, Celso Albelo, Rozalén, Pablo Heras Casado and Cuarteto Quiroga are also among the artists featured in the video, which was produced by the Spanish newspaper El Pais coinciding with a special Sunday music issue of the paper’s weekly magazine.
The clip was shot by Canadá, the production company that created the “Malamente” video for Rosalía, who as a teen was inspired by Camarón to start singing flamenco.
