Ozuna, Karol G & Justin Quiles Open Up About Their First-Ever Latin Grammy Nominations

The 19th annual Latin Grammys are almost here. There are many things we're keeping on our radar for Thursday night, such as Will Smith, Bad Bunny and Marc Anthony's performance, seeing if J Balvin will walk away with any of the eight nominations he has up his sleeves, and if Rosalia will be a top winner as well.

One of the moments we’re most looking forward to is if any rookie nominees will walk away with their first Grammy. Billboard caught up with Ozuna, Karol G and Justin Quiles, who all talked to us about their first-ever Latin Grammy noms.

Latin Grammy Nomination: Best Urban Music Album with Odisea

Did you ever think Odisea would have this much success?: "Odisea is my first album, my story. I never thought that the album would be so successful. Music is my passion and that is what is reflected in each of my songs. It feels great! I never thought I would get that far. And really, I feel like a winner just by being nominated. This is a dream come true."

Latin Grammy Nominations: Best New Artist and Best Urban Song with “Mi Cama”

How did you react when you found out you were nominated?: “I had just gotten off from a plane in Argentina and on my way to the hotel I was refreshing my phone because other artists were going to make the announcements on social media. When, bam!, Nicky Jam announces the first category, best new artist, and then Rosalia reveals my song ‘Mi Cama’ in best urban song and wow... not one but two! Besides the two nominations, being a woman nominee in the best urban song category is a huge achievement for me and the genre overall. It's impressive! I ran like a crazy person in the hallway of the hotel screaming, ‘I'm nominated for the Grammys!’ It was awesome, a unique moment."

Latin Grammy Nomination: Best Urban Song with “Downtown” (Anitta feat. J Balvin)

Where were you when you got the news that you were nominated?: “I was in the studio when Anitta's manager called me and told me we were nominated ... I was very happy, I got really excited since it was my first nom. I've always wanted to go to the Latin Grammys and now I'm going as a nominee. I know the song did well but I never expected to be nominated with ‘Downtown.’ And well, thank God we're nominated, it's my first Latin Grammy nomination and I feel very excited. Hopefully, I win my first trophy."
