The Evolution of "Culpables":
Karol G: It's a story that started a long time ago. When “Ahora Me Llama” was out, I was looking for someone to do the remix. Among those people I was looking at was Anuel, who was in jail. We tried, but it was impossible to record it because of his situation. When he gets out of jail, he looked for me because he wanted to do the remix of "Pineapple," but I told him it was too late. "Mi Cama" was already out, and I said, “How about we work on a new song?” I was on tour in Europe, and he was very excited to make a song with me and started sending me songs. I told him that it was not my style, that I talked about everything but that I take care of my words, and he went into the studio and made a song totally for me.
Anuel AA: My manager had told me about Karol G. At that time, I was in prison, and when she wanted to record the remix of "Ahora Me Llama," I couldn’t because I was not allowed to in jail. When I heard "Pineapple," it became my favorite song, but she already had "Mi Cama." Then I worked on the new song and did it in one straight shot and sent it to her. I wanted to call it "Infieles," but Karol G came out with the idea of ??calling it "Culpables."
Karol G: The most amazing thing about this project is that many people tell me: Why work with Anuel? Obviously, I respect the expression of different artists. I do not judge or criticize the style of anyone. I represent and defend my style. What I love about "Culpables" is that it's a completely clean song. We do not speak ill of women or men. The song is clean. It does not have bad words.
Whether It Was Difficult for Anuel to Make a Clean Song:
Karol G: He was respectful. I respect his style. I told him I’d take the risk of recording with him. He told me, “Don’t worry. I'm not going to damage your image.” I was very expectant, but I was surprised when I heard it for the first time.
Anuel AA: She thought that the song was going to have bad words. I understand Karol’s image and I can’t mix her image with mine, professionally.
The Message Behind the Music Video:
Karol G: What I like about the video is that it preserves the message of the song. The director managed a very clean image of both of us.
Anuel AA: The video I love. I love that the video shows another image of me, that was not to be the bad guy.
Karol G: We became friends and we are very close. He is a human being completely different from the character he is. He has a huge heart, and I wish everyone could know him as I know him.
Anuel AA: #LaBebesita. Karol knows me, knows who I am in real life. Everyone has a different image of who I am, and she wants fans to see that side of me, and she is an amazing woman.
Exclusive: A New Romantic Song on the Way:
Karol G: Anuel made a new song for me to work on, but it will be with both of us. The song is even more impressive than "Culpables," because it is a love song, a deep song that he completely wrote.
Anuel AA: I wanted this song to be just for her. And she told me that she wants to record it with me. At the same time, she asked why I don’t do those kinds of songs so my fans know that side of me. And I really do not see myself being like that. I'm going to record it just because she asked me to. It is very different because it is an acoustic song.
Karol G: He is very respectful. We built a very nice friendship, much more there, and one day, out of nowhere, he called me “la bebesita,” and from that moment, I became “la bebesita.”
