After a four-year hiatus, Mala Rodriguez is back in the game, giving fans fresh music and a new flow all while keeping her essence as a female hip-hop rapper.

The Spanish singer, who kicked off her career in the late ‘90s, made her comeback in 2018 with her single “Gitanas” and hot collaborations with artists such as Juan Magan and Beatriz Luengo. Now, she’s dropping her newest music video, “Contigo,” featuring English-Jamaican rapper Stylo G, premiering exclusively on Billboard.

“Contigo” is a sensual Spanglish track where reggaeton meets dancehall. “I heard the beat and I loved the melody. I wanted to write music with that base,” La Mala tells Billboard of the reggae-inspired song. “It’s an interesting mix between his accent [Stylo G] and mine. How can you not enjoy it? It’s a classic song to fall in love.”

Despite its tropical dance vibes, Mala opted to make the video sweet and simple with a group of dancers, pastel colors, and lots of daisy flowers. “The pure element of this video is to get that feeling of weakness,” she says. “It’s a song that’s romantic, beautiful, and cute. It’s nice to draw all of those emotions in the video. We had a lot of fun filming it,” she says of the video that was filmed in Barcelona.

As for her comeback album, Mala Rodriguez promises fresh rhythms, new collaborations, and a lot of cool energies.
