"I do not support, nor do I sympathize with the Anuel’s expressions and for this reason, I have decided to retire as producer of his concert,” expressed Paco Lopez in a press statement. “The people of Puerto Rico have had a very hard year, and now more than ever it is necessary that we are united."
Prior to the cancelation, Gasolina Drink, the show's biggest sponsor, also backed away from the show, and sent out a press releasing stating it would withdraw its support. “The management of Gasolina Drink announces its immediate and definitive retirement as a sponsor of the rapper Anuel AA concert, which will take place on October 12 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. The determination is a direct consequence of the misguided expressions of the exponent of the urban genre as part of a controversy he has with one of his colleagues in music.”
The situation between Anuel AA and Cosculluela has spiraled in recent weeks with increasingly explicit videos posted online. Some fans have taken social media to post videos threaten to Anuel AA (whose real name is Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago) to death.
The refund process for the fans who bought tickets will start on Sept. 17. For more information contact the arena’s box office.
Anuel AA was released from prison on July 17 after spending three years behind bars on a gun charge. The Oct. 12 concert would have been his first show in his native Puerto Rico. "Bebe," the rapper's collaboration with 6ix9nine, debuted at No. 1 this week on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart.
