Draco Rosa Shares New Cover Art for 'Monte Sagrado': Exclusive First Look and Tour Dates

Sony Music Latin
Draco Rosa

Draco Rosa’s new album, Monte Sagrado, will be released Oct. 26 on Sony Latin. The set will be Rosa’s first studio set of new material since since his Amor Vincit Omnia was release eight years ago (Rosa’s last collection of songs, which he re-recorded as a collaboration with many friends, was Vida, released four years ago), and since his cancer diagnosis.

Monte Sagrado follows the August release of Vagabundo 22, a revisit of Rosa’s now-classic Vagabundo, originally released 22 years ago. The August version, released on vinyl, featured an intriguing cover painting by Rosa’s son, the artist and illustrator Rebel Rosa, who also did the artwork for Monte Sagrado.

Billboard got the first look at the cover art. Since we know you’re wondering what it all means, we’ve decoded it for you.

The cloaked man getting ready to embark on a journey: Upon closer inspection, you’ll see his legs are mechanical. That’s because this is Draco as Vagabundo, part-machine, part-man, the result of reinvention and survival (following two bouts with cancer) and the present-future.

The small hotel on the right of the painting: Small, but evident, its sign reads: El Hotel de los Encuentros (The Hotel of Enconters). It symbolized the present meeting of all of Draco’s experiences: Menudo, songwriter for Ricky Martin, Robi Rosa, PHVX (his production and management company) and now, Draco Rosa.

The climb ahead: represents the journey and spiritual climb to Rosa’s coffee ranch and studio in Utuado, Puerto Rico.

The destination at the top of the hill and the end of the journey? Monte Sagrado (Sacred Mountain), a collection of hard driving rock songs that are the results of Rosa’s journey.
