During the month of June, people in Guatemala lived moments of insecurity, despair and fear after the eruption of the Fuego volcano. According to the latest report from the authorities, 256 people are still missing while the death toll rises to 159.

For this reason, the Guatemalan singer-songwriter Ricardo Arjona has created an aid plan that begins by supporting five families who have been relocated to a farm in the Municipality of Masagua, department of Escuintla.

Arjona’s initiative started last Thursday, when the superstar toured the farm with the affected families. During the visit, the five families received the title of ownership of the pair of lands granted and they will have a house with living room, dining room and two bedrooms but are designed in such a way that they can be extended with two more rooms. The farm in Cuyuta, Masagua, is an area already subdivided, with immediate access to schools and potential employers.

With this project, Ricardo Arjona hopes that it will become an initiative through which individuals and businesses will adopt many more families affected by the tragedy of the Volcán de Fuego.
