Latin Artist on the Rise: Meet Colombian Urban Crooner Greeicy
Meet Greeicy, this week's Latin Artist on the Rise.
Greeicy discovered her love for music when she was little but instead, gained success for her acting career in Colombian telenovelas such as “Primera Dama,” “La Prepago,” and “Chica Vampiro.” After her on-screen trajectory of nearly 10 years, Greeicy decided to follow her dreams and in 2016 resumed her musical career.
“I left [acting] in the best moment of my career when I was getting really good proposals,” she tells Billboard. “But there’s nothing worse than having the doubt about something. My real dream since forever was to sing.”
Born Greeicy Yeliana Rendón Ceballos in Cali, Colombia, Greeicy entered the music biz with her 2016 single “Brindemos.” She was then put on our radar when she dropped “Amantes” in 2017 featuring Colombian urban artist (and her boyfriend) Mike Bahia. Currently, she’s making the rounds with “Ya Para Que?,” a melodic tune with heartfelt lyrics that talks about a person who’s over their ex and has moved on.
Her music, which also includes singles “Mas Fuerte” and “No Te Equivoques,” gives us an idea of who Greeicy is as an artist: romantic, edgy, unapologetic, and empowering.
“My music is for men and women,” she says of her songs. “I love to motivate people to dream and achieve their goals. I don’t want to be seen as the distant artist and that’s why I try to inspire my fans through my music.” Greeicy is currently signed to Universal Music.
