MTV revealed the 2018 Video Music Awards nominees Monday (July 16), where new mom Cardi B takes the lead with 10 nominations including video, song and artist of the year. The Carters (Beyoncé and JAY-Z) follow with eight nominations, and nabbing seven noms each are Childish Gambino and Drake.

Among the 2018 MTV VMAs nominees are six Latino artists going head-to-head in the Best Latin category: Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Jennifer Lopez, Luis Fonsi, Maluma and Shakira.

But before we show you the videos that nabbed these artists an MTV VMA nomination, we must note that a similar category was introduced to the awards show in 2010 under the name of tr3́s Latino artist of the year. The winner was chosen by votes on MTV Tr3s. Some of the artists who have nabbed this title in the past include Aventura (2010), Wisin & Yandel (2011), Romeo Santos (2012) and Daddy Yankee (2013).

The 2018 VMAs will air live from Radio City Music Hall in New York on Monday, Aug. 20, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Beginning now through Aug. 10, fans can vote for their favorite artists across eight categories here.
