10 Artists You Didn't Know Recently Debuted on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs Chart
Whether it's a new or established artist, seeing a song for the very first time on a Billboard chart is an unforgettable moment. During the past few months, Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart has been the target for artists who never thought that they would have the chance of scoring a hit on such a demanding chart.
So who's on the list? From Jason Derulo to Abraham Mateo, see which artists recently notched their first entry on the Hot Latin Songs chart.
Jason Derulo joined forces with Sofia Reyes and De La Ghetto to release “1, 2, 3" in February. The song debuted at No. 41 on the chart dated March 17 and peaked at No. 24 on April 28.
Steve Aoki produced his first-ever Latin song “Azukita” with Daddy Yankee, Play-N-Skillz and Elvis Crespo, and performed the hit at Ultra Festival in Miami in March. It debuted and peaked at No. 29 on the Feb. 17-dated Hot Latin Songs chart.
The Panamanian DJ scored his first Hot Latin Songs entry (and his first Billboard Hot 100 entry) with his novelty hit “Dame Tu Cosita.” Thanks to its viral video on YouTube, the track spent two weeks at No 1 on Hot Latin Songs in May.
Casper Magico, Darell, Nio Garcia
With the help of Nicky Jam, Ozuna and Bad Bunny, Casper Magico, Darell and Nio Garcia made their debut on Hot Latin Songs with “Te Bote.” The single spends its first week at No. 1 on the current Hot Latin Songs chart (dated May 26).
Nego do Borel
Maluma helped Brazilian funk singer Nego do Borel score his first entry on the Hot Latin Songs chart with their collab “Corazón." The song debuted at No. 25 on the Nov. 25-dated chart and peaked at No. 5 in January.
Brazilian superstar Anitta recently earned her first two entries on the Hot Latin Songs chart. She scored her first entry in December with "Downtown," with J Balvin. The song peaked at No. 14 in January. Shortly afterwards, she returned to the Hot Latin Songs chart with "Machika," with J Balvin and Jeon, which debuted and peaked at No. 10 on Feb. 3.
Raymix's tecnocumbia track “Oye Mujer” went viral on YouTube, helping him earns his first Hot Latin Songs hit. The single debuted at No. 45 on the chart dated Feb. 24 and reached No. 10, where it currently stands on the latest Hot Latin Songs chart (dated May 26).
Similar to Anitta, Abraham Mateo also recently debuted his first two hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart. His first entry, "Loco Enamorado," with Farruko and Christian Daniel, debuted on the chart in October and peaked at No. 22 in January. His follow-up single, "Se Acabo El Amor," debuted on last week's Hot Latin Songs chart (dated May 19) and reaches a new peak at No. 38 on the current ranking.
Mau Y Ricky
Mau Y Ricky’s “Mi Mala,” with Karol G, is about loving each other, but staying apart to keep enjoying life. It debuted at No. 47 on the chart dated Feb. 24 and peaked at No. 38 on the May 12 chart.
DJ Kass helped send another viral hit to the top 10 of the Hot Latin Songs chart. “Scooby Doo Pa Pa,” his first Billboard chart entry, debuted at No. 43 on the chart dated Feb. 3 and climbed to No. 9 on Mar. 31.
