Bad Bunny photographed on Dec. 11, 2017 at El Tucán in Miami.

In a single year, Bad Bunny has gone from relative anonymity to a sold out U.S. tour. In April, he’s up for new artist of the year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. And he’ll also be one of our Q&A guests at the Billboard Latin Music conference. But that’s next month. (To register, click here.)

We were able to catch up with Bad Bunny beforehand, and boy did he have a lot to say. Click below for the full podcast. But before, a few tidbits from the rising star:

1. On the rising popularity of Latin trap: "Music is something no one can control. Music belongs to the people. To no one else. To no one else."

2. On tempering his explicit lyrics: "No one tells me what to do with my music. Real. My mom doesn’t tell what to say, how is someone else going to? The only person I cared about [in that regard] is my mom and she accepts me."

3. On recording with Drake: "We spoke about everything. I don’t speak English well, but after a few drinks you can speak any language. We spoke about music, basketball, everything."

Bad Bunny will also speak at the Billboard Latin Music Conference, April 24-26 in Las Vegas. For more information and registration, click here: http://billboardlatinconference.com
