Camila Cabello's Best Latin Moments of 2017
This year, all Latino artists are proud of what Spanish songs have achieved, and even Anglo superstars have joined the movement. Camila Cabello's solo success is not an exception, because the former Fifth Harmony singer completely represents both worlds.
After leaving 5H over a year ago, Camila Cabello has been focused more on highlighting her Latina roots. As proof of it, Billboard has compiled Camila’s finest Latin moments during 2017.
1. “Havana” music video
Cabello's short film is totally a Latino video, highlighting telenovelas, food, dance and even how grandmothers are in real life. Of course, doing a remix with Daddy Yankee with Spanish lyrics is totally a plus.
2. Camila’s Speech at Billboard’s Women in Music
The singer could not forget to remind us during her speech that she is a Cuban/Mexican immigrant.
3. Her Support for the Dreamers
As an immigrant, Camila Cabello knows how difficult is to fight for what it's right. Throughout the year, she has consistently supported the dreamers.
over 12,000 dreamers are at risk of deportation TODAY because trump ended DACA. this number only keeps growing. we MUST call congress and demand they pass the dream act before the end of the year!!!! ✊#DreamActNOW #HereToStay https://t.co/llUHDaeXTL pic.twitter.com/46WPoKy0lx— camila (@Camila_Cabello) December 20, 2017
4. Camila's performance at the 2017 Latin Grammys Person of the Year Gala
This year, Camila Cabello and Juanes paid tribute to Alejandro Sanz, singing “Quisiera Ser” during the 2017 Latin Grammys Person of the Year Gala in Las Vegas.
"Que digan por televisión que hay suelto un corazón, que no es igual, que es peligroso…que es distinto......" Alejandro, my parents have danced and cried and fallen in love to your songs since I was a little girl... growing up, they would play your songs on repeat and I would sing the words and melodies about heartache and love and loss and friendship even when I was in 1st grade and the most intense thing was that the boy I liked took my crayons.... . As I got older and I realized what it means to fall in love, to be heartbroken, to feel everything, the more I've made my way through this thing, this beautiful chaos called life... the richer your music becomes. It's like reading your favorite book in different parts of your life and every time you feel something different, it teaches you something new ... through your art you've inspired me to love fearlessly, to live intensely, and to have the courage stand with your soul naked in a crowded room..... Ayer sentía que estaba soñando con los ojos abiertos, thank you for your magic ---- #alejandrosanz #personoftheyear #latingrammys
5. “Hey Ma” video with Pitbull and J Balvin
Months after leaving 5H, Camila recorded “Hey Ma” with Pitbull and J Balvin. The track was part of the Fate of the Furious soundtrack, the film's story being primarily setin Cuba.
