The Mexican chanteuse delivers a slow-burning Spanish version of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”

Soulful Mexican singer Carla Morrison has delivered a slow-burning version of “Al Filo de Medianoche” for Christmas. Morrison’s new recording of the Spanish version of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear” will be featured on Amazon Music’s Acoustic Christmas playlist, which goes live on Friday (Dec. 1). Morrison’s track premieres today on Billboard.

The Latin-Grammy-winning indie singer-songwriter says she learned “Al Filo de Medianoche” when she was growing up in Tecate (Baja, California), and later heard the tune playing during the Christmas season in Phoenix, where she lived as a college student, studying music.

Morrison’s holiday fave is one of 21 new additions to Amazon’s “Acoustic Christmas.” In addition to a new version of “Feliz Navidad” by the band Susto, it includes an original song by Josh Ritter, and Noah Cyrus singing the Darlene Love December standard “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”.
