Jean Rodriguez arrives at the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Nov. 19, 2015 in Las Vegas.

For Jean Rodriguez of Coast City, it was all about Rick James' "Super Freak." Nearly two dozen recording artists took the stage Wednesday night (Nov. 15) at the BMI Los Producers event in Las Vegas to raise money for charity during Latin Grammy week.

From Jon Secada to Tommy Torres and Sofia Reyes, the annual event is a night to raise awareness for several organizations including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Help Me Rebuild La Perla and Los Angeles en Mexico.

This year, the event was themed around cover songs, and the Hard Rock Café was the stage for showcases that included Reyes performing Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’Mine,” and Rodriguez’s electrifying version of Rick James’ “Super Freak.”

“I was part of the original Los Producers event before it became part of Latin Grammy week,” said Latin Grammy nominee Rodriguez, who was joined by producer Sebastian Krys.

Some of the night’s notable performances included Secada performing Elton John’s “Bennie and Jets” and pop duo Ha*Ash singing AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

The event was presented by BMI and Rebeleon Entertainment.
