Luis Coronel Talks About His Success: 'Music Shouldn't Be Taken as Competition'

Regional Mexican singer Luis Coronel just released his third album Ahora Soy Yo and it swiftly took over Billboard Latin album charts.

On its first week, Coronel debuted at No. 1 on Latin Albums Sales, Regional Mexican Albums and at No. 2 on Top Latin Album (charts dated Nov. 11).

In a recent interview with Billboard, Coronel reflected on where he's at as an artist. After two albums, Coronel's profile is on the rise in the Latin industry. But for the singer, Ahora Soy Yo means something more than just an album. It's his own creation. It represents the freedom to make decisions, of selecting songs and composers. It's an album that honestly represents him.

“Music shouldn’t be taken as competition,” he said. “In this album, I let fans know who I am as an artist”. During the video interview, Luis Coronel also talks about his experience on exploring new sounds, filming a video in Cuba, what he learned from his past and more.
