"There is a time to cry, but it’s not now," the Brazlian singer says of her new post-breakup anthem.

Brazilian star Claudia Leitte’s hot new single “Baldin de Gelo” (“Ice Bucket”) starts off in Portuguese, introduced with acoustic guitar, and segues into Spanish, marking the rhythm with a chorus that could make “con mi boom boom” a mid-summer catch phrase.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Leitte described the song as a post-breakup celebration anthem about a woman “who is not a victim anymore, she’s free to be herself….she’s not crying because she lost her boyfriend. She’s partying every day. The woman at this party is still being romantic, but OK, life goes on. There is a time to cry, but it’s not now.”

“Baldin de Gelo” will be included on Leitte’s yet-untitled next album, which is set to feature tracks in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Leitte signed with Roc Nation and moved to Los Angeles after gaining widespread international recognition when she performed with Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez at the 2014 World Cup opening ceremony in Rio.

During a phone call from Bahia, Brazil, where the perennial Carnival queen was home for some family time during her kids’ summer break, Leitte explained that the songs from her new album will come out over the next months as a series of singles. “I think this album is the best I’ve ever worked on,” the 37-year-old singer said, adding that her new songs combine “everything I’ve learned in Brazil and in the United States.”
