Prince Royce's 'Moneda' Featuring Gerardo Ortiz Tops Tropical Songs Chart

Plus, Banda Sinaloense MS continues Regional Mexican Airplay Reign & Ulices Chaidez climbs Hot Latin Songs.

Prince Royce earns his 14th No. 1 on the Tropical Songs airplay chart (dated Jan. 28) as “Moneda,” featuring Gerardo Ortiz, hops 3-1 in its fifth charting frame. The collaboration, from Royce’s forthcoming Spanish-language album Five, sees a 20 percent gain at the radio format, to 7.8 million audience impressions in the tracking week ending Jan. 15, according to Nielsen Music (the chart switched from a plays-based ranking to audience-based on the Jan. 21-dated charts).

Royce ties Elvis Crespo and Gilberto Santa Rosa for third place for the most No. 1s in the chart’s 22-year history; Marc Anthony and Victor Manuelle lead with 28 each.

While Prince Royce enjoys his 14th Tropical Songs leader, it’s the first No. 1 on the list for regional Mexican star Ortiz. He currently holds the record for the most No. 1s for a solo act on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart.

The Five album is due out Feb. 10.

Banda Sinaloense MS’s Longest No. 1 Run: Elsewhere, Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga spends a 10th week at No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart with “Tengo Que Colgar,” becoming the group’s longest-running No. 1. The track climbs 2-1 in its 20th charting week (after two weeks at No. 2), despite a four percent dip in airplay to 11.7 million audience impressions.

In all, the band has posted six chart-toppers on the airplay list. The most weeks it had previously spent at the top was one year ago when “Solo Con Verte” reached No. 1 on the Jan. 30, 2016, chart and spent nine weeks at the summit.

“Tengo Que Colgar” is the third crowning song from the group’s album Que Bendicion, which debuted at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums (chart date Feb. 27, 2016), where it spent three weeks.

Ulices Chaidez Soars: Finally, Ulices Chaidez y Sus Plebes flies 48-24 on Hot Latin Songs with “Te Regalo.” The song earns both Streaming Gainer and Digital Gainer honors, due in part by the release of its music video on Jan. 9. Streams lift 58 percent (to 1.1 million weekly clicks) with 65 percent coming from YouTube, while sales also rise 58 percent (to 1,000 downloads). The group, fronted by 16-year old Chaidez, also reaches a new peak with “Porque Me Enamore,” rising 27-23 in its 14th week.
