2017 ASCAP Latin Awards to Honor El Gran Combo & Vico C

El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will honor iconic salsa group El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and singer/songwriter Vico C during their 25th annual Latin Music Awards set to take place March 15, 2017. 

El Gran Combo will be honored with the ASCAP Latin Heritage Award in recognition of their "unique and enduring contributions to Latin music." Past ASCAP Latin Heritage Award honorees include Ricardo Arjona, Celia Cruz, Olga Tañón and Franco de Vita.

The performing rights organization will present urban music pioneer Vico C with the prestigious ASCAP Vanguard Award. The accolade recognizes artists for their "impact of new and developing musical genres which help shape the future of music." 

During the ceremony, which will take place at the Vanderbilt Hotel in Condado, Puerto Rico, ASCAP will also present awards to the songwriter of the year, the singer/songwriter of the year, publisher of the year, independent publisher of the year and Latin song of the year -- honorees are yet to be announced.

Pop, tropical, regional Mexican, urban and television categories will also be recognized.
