You can count on one hand the number of interviews reclusive Mexican star Luis Miguel has given in the past couple of years, and in two the ones he’s given in the past decade. But now, he's apparently ready to let it all out.

Gato Grande Productions, Metro Goldwyn-Mayer’s new joint venture, has acquired the rights to Luis Miguel’s life story, with plans to produce a TV mini series. The announcement was made today (Nov. 21) by Mark Burnett, MGM’s president of television and digital.

"It has taken me a long time to want to tell my story and I have been looking for the right team to tell it the way it should be told." said Luis Miguel in a statement. "Mark and the Gato Grande team are the perfect partners for this."

Widely considered one of the best voices in Latin music, Luis Miguel is one of Latin pop’s legendary hitmakers, ranked No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Artists of All Time chart.

Luis Miguel has 16 No. 1s on the chart, behind only Enrique Iglesias.

Famously private, the Mexican singer is a prolific touring act who seldom grants interviews or interacts with the press. Nabbing the rights to his life story is a huge coup for Gato Grande as it launches its partnership with MGM. The company, owned by entrepreneurs Miguel Aleman and Antonio Cué, will produce Spanish-language content for worldwide audiences.

"We spent many hours at my home with Luis Miguel discussing ideas for how best to tell his story and we are thrilled to be in business with him." said Burnett in a statement. "We see the value of premium content for the Spanish-speaking market throughout the world, and we look forward to many additional projects across all platforms that we can now develop with Antonio, Miguel and Gato Grande. This is only the beginning."

Development of the Luis Miguel series will be overseen by independent Mexican filmmaker Carla González Vargas.
