SBS’ bilingual streaming Latin music app now features short-form video programming.

LaMusica, the bilingual streaming app “created by and for Hispanic millenials” has launched a new offering of 30-90 second vertical video programming that includes Latin music, entertainment news, celebrity gossip and pop culture, executives at Spanish Broadcasting System announced on Wednesday (Oct. 5).

The TV and radio conglomerate made a big move into the Latin digital realm this summer with the re-launch of the LaMusica streaming music app. The complete video line-up builds on LaMusica’s Latin music offering with a carrousel of clips that will be updated more than ten times a day, allowing users access via their mobile devices.

“We’ve taken the mobile entertainment experience on LaMusica to a new level by creating a seamless audio and visual entertainment platform developed specifically for Hispanic millennial audiences,” Raul Alarcón, Jr., Chairman and CEO of SBS said in a statement that challenged the Latin content offering on other streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. “There is simply no other mobile platform designed to serve the unique interests of millions of young U.S. Hispanics with the breadth of authentic Latin programming that LaMusica offers. Our app not only unlocks the power of SBS’ original content, it also provides advertisers and marketers with a dynamic platform to tap into this enormous (and growing) consumer group.”

Programs feature a daily web series that is an extension of El Vacilón De La Mañana, featuring talent from NYC’s number one morning radio show on WSKQ-FM; a game show that asks artists potentially embarrassing questions, and a show about artists and their pets. The free app is available for download for iPhones via the iTunes App store and for Android via the Google Play store. LaMusica can be used with either an English or Spanish-language interface.
