The Brazilian soccer star laughs his way through the off-key song on Facebook.

Barcelona soccer star Neymar announced the start of his “music career” on social media last weekend, telling his more than 20 million followers that his debut single would drop Wednesday (Sept. 14).

True to his word, the Brazilian footballer posted a video of himself playing the piano, singing painfully off-key, then cracking up laughing on Facebook. It seems the debut of the musical alter ego he dubbed “Neymusico” was just a joke (at least for now).

“This is all an elaborate inside joke between Neymar and Brazilian singer Thiaguinho,” ventured sports website SB Nation after Neymar revealed the song, called “Yo Te Necesito.” The lyrics, translated from Portuguese, include “to play the ball I need boldness and joy,” apparently referring to a motto shared by the two friends.

Eight hours after it was posted, the video had been viewed 6.3 million times.
