It's not often that an artist can boast of reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Latin Airplay with their first-ever charting single, but that's the case for up-and-coming DJ and producer IAmChino. His star-studded and upbeat track "Ay Mi Dios" featuring Pitbull, Yandel and Chacal topped the Latin Airplay chart and currently holds a top 10 spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

The Miami-based artist, who is signed to Mr. 305 Inc. and has been DJ'ing for Pitbull since 2005, says the single was destined to become a crowd favorite. "It's a song that has a good melody and the lyrics are about love, which allows people to relate to the track. The sound is very different. It's a mixture of different cultures, sounds. You hear beats from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba in there.

"I had originally been working in the studio only with Chacal for this song," he added. "He's very talented and writes well. We had this song ready and I told Yandel about it at an event we were at. Him and I already had plans to record something together and when he heard this track he loved it."

Meet this week's Billboard Latin artist on the rise: IAmChino.

Big break: IAmChino's big break came when he met Pit's manager in 2005. The encounter led to major bookings as DJ to private events, album release parties and eventually came the invitation to join Mr. 305 as his official DJ on tour in 2011.

Major accomplishment: IAmChino reached No. 1 on Latin Airplay with his first ever charting single. It's No. 3 this week (chart dated Sept. 24).
