Carlos Vives Pays Tribute to Juan Gabriel & More Hollywood Bowl Highlights
Carlos Vives filled the iconic Hollywood Bowl with Colombian pride during his concert Wednesday night, with his high-energy tropipop and vallenato tunes that the audience couldn't resist to get up and dance to.
The Latin superstar kicked off the show with upbeat classics like "La Gota Fría," "Fruta Fresca" and "Pa Mayté," songs that set a festive tone for the rest of the two-hour concert.
An energetic Vives worked the stage, running and dancing from corner to corner while taking time to take selfies with fans and shaking their hands.
Throughout the night, he sang crowd favorites like "La Tierra del Olvido," "Nota de Amor," "Carito," "El Rock de Mi Pueblo," "Bailar Contigo," "Cuando Nos Volvamos a Encontrar," "Volví a Nacer" and more.
Aside from turning the Hollywood Bowl into a Colombian rumba, below are Billboard's other favorite moments from Vives' La Fiesta De Todos show:
Lee Oskar Joins Vives Onstage
An epic, and unexpected, collab between Lee Oskar, the Danish harmonica player, and Vives happened onstage. Oskar joined the chart-topping artist on a couple of his songs. "I had never personally met Lee Oskar, but I do own and play his harmonicas, and tonight, it's an honor to have him perform with me some of my songs."
ChocQuibTown Collab Via Satellite
Although Vives didn't have any superstar friends come out and duet with him physically, he reached out to his pals from ChocQuibTown via satellite to help him sing "El Mar de Tus Ojos."
Juan Gabriel Tribute
A fan-favorite moment was when Juan Gabriel's image appeared on the screens at the Hollywood Bowl. Before paying tribute to the late singer by singing "No Tengo Dinero," Vives dedicated a few words to "El Divo de Juárez." "I have so many favorite Juan Gabriel songs, but when I was a little kid, I would sing this song all the time. And I thought I'd sing it here tonight in his honor."
Bike Ride at Hollywood Bowl
Not having his sidekick Shakira onstage didn't stop Vives from going on an epic bike ride around the Hollywood Bowl stage while he sang his summer hit "La Bicicleta."
