Becky G says she feels "blessed" to appear among the impressive group of artists featured on The Black Eyed Peas' star-studded remake of their track "Where Is the Love?" aimed at ending gun violence.

The track, released earlier this week, "calls for calm, asking citizens of the world to stop the hate and violence that has resulted in many lives lost." The new version of the 2003 hit reunited mega stars like Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx, Andra Day, Luis Coronel, Mario Domm (from Mexican band Camila), French Montana, Mary J. Blige, among others.

Billboard caught up with Becky G to talk about her participation in the powerful track and video.

How did your participation come about? Did reach out to you personally?

Will reached out to me personally and of course, I said yes!

The message of the song is very powerful and beautiful, but is there one specific reason why you said yes to participating?

The most powerful thing in the world is "love" and I wanted to be a part of a project that helped spread a positive message to the masses, especially during these turbulent times.

What do you take away from this track and the experience of being part of it?

The message is pretty self explanatory but for me personally, I feel blessed to have been asked to take part in the re-make of such a classic track. In hearing the song again, I want everyone to be reminded that we each individually and in turn collectively have the power to spread love.

Proceeds for "Where Is the Love?" will go towards Will.I.Am's foundation, a charity that funds educational programs and college scholarships.
