As an homage to music icon Juan Gabriel, indie artists including Natalia Lafourcade, Mitre and Los Sonex are honoring the singer's legacy and music trajectory with a special album titled Querido: Tributo Indie a Juan Gabriel

The album, to be released Aug. 23 in honor of the Mexican crooner's 45 years in the music industry, will include covers of classic songs like "No me vuelvo a enamorar," El fin," "Costumbres" and "Querida."

Up-and-coming artist Mitre sings "Luna" on the tribute and will release a music video along with the debut of the album. "For me it's a huge honor to be able to tribute one of my biggest influences, and one of the biggest artists in Mexican music. To be able to sing for Juan Gabriel is a great gift of life," said the "Casi un recuerdo" singer in a statement.

Although the album will be made available on digital platforms next week, some of the covers have been released on YouTube. Below, you can listen to five of our favorites from Querido: Tributo Indie a Juan Gabriel
