Meet CD9: Billboard Latin Artist on the Rise
After independently publishing their first album The Party in 2013, the Mexican boy band CD9 has become one of the most promising new boy groups in Latin America. Three years after they began their musical career, the band is currently ruling the digital world with millions of followers on social media and slowly, but steadily, climbing up Billboard's Social 50 chart.
On this week's chart (dated Aug. 20), the group, now signed by Sony Music Mexico, reached a new high, going from No. 33 to No. 24. It's also worth mentioning that with 43.93 percent of the votes, CD9 came in second place on our Favorite New Latin Boy Band Poll where CNCO took the lead with 44.42 percent of the votes.
Formed by Jos, Freddy, Alonso, Bryan and Alan, CD9 -- who this summer recorded their version of the theme song "Turtle Power" for the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, included in the soundtrack of the movie -- is currently promoting the new album Evolution and will kick off their tour in Mexico later this month.
