Latin Grammys 2016 to Honor Marc Anthony as Person of the Year
Marc Anthony has been named the 2016 Latin Recording Academy Person of Year. The two-time Grammy and five-time Latin Grammy winner will be honored by the Academy during Latin Grammy week on Nov. 16, the night before the awards ceremony in Las Vegas.
"I was ecstatic when I received the news," the chart-topping artist said in a press release. "It is an honor and I am humbled to be selected as The Person of Year recipient for my contributions as a music ambassador and my humanitarian efforts."
The founder of Magnus Media entertainment company joins fellow Latin artists like Roberto Carlos, Gloria Estefan, Miguel Bosé, Joan Manuel Serrat and Carlos Santana, among others, who have received the prestigious award.
"Marc Anthony is synonymous with excellence and commitment to perfection," Gabriel Abaroa Jr., president and CEO of the Latin Recording Academy, said in a statement. "The world knows him as a music king; however, on Nov. 16, the award-winning singer will not only be honored for his musical legacy but also applauded for his relentless humanitarian efforts."
During the Person of the Year gala, the multi-hyphenate will be honored by colleagues who will perform a rendition of his biggest hits.
