Becky G's 'Empire' Guest Role: Plenty of Skin, Steamy Bathtub Smooches & Spanish
Becky G’s hotly anticipated turn on Empire Wednesday can only be described in one word: caliente! The 18-year-old Mexican American pop star made quite an impression as the aspiring singer Valentina Galindo, baring plenty of skin and showing off her singing/rapping skills as she auditioned for a girl group on Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) start-up label, Dynasty -- not to be confused with Lucious Lyon’s (Terrence Howard) multi-million dollar Empire.
Valentina's sassy Spanish bit was cute, but the steamy bathtub scene with Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) toward the end of the episode took the cake, with the two smooching as they plotted for the future.
In one of the more memorable moments, Valentina asked Hakeem in the tub, “I want to be legendary, don’t you?” But as much as Hakeem was rooting for a multi-culti version of Destiny's Child, which Boo Boo Kitty a.k.a Anika (Grace Gealey) pointed out is "a marketable concept," Valentina wasn't quite sold on sharing the spotlight. Before she walked out of her audition, she let the folks at Dynasty know: “With or without you, I shine.”
And shine she did! Hopefully there’s more where that came from. Let's just hope that if the girl group does happen, Hakeem comes up with a better name than Rainbow Sensation, because as Cookie correctly states, "that may be the dumbest name known to man."
On Twitter, Henson sweetly gave props to Becky, writing, "Thanks for sharing your talents with the Empire and the world! Sweet baby!"
