Larry Hernandez Held Without Bail Over South Carolina Case
Regional Mexican singer Larry Hernandez, who is also the star of hit mun2 reality series Larrymania, is being held without bail in a detention center in California.
According to official records, Hernandez, 38, was arrested Sept. 25 at 2:39 p.m. at Ontario Airport in California and is being held without bail at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
Published reports state that the arrest stems from an incident in South Carolina related to a concert Hernandez performed on Aug. 16 in Newberry. Los Angeles daily La Opinion wrote that Hernandez, angry because he wasn’t paid the amount promised for his performance, held the concert promoter against his will and beat him up. The promoter, continued the report, managed to escape and filed a complaint with the police.
Hernandez was sought for questioning but didn’t show up, leading to his arrest when he returned to California.
Hernandez, who is an avid Twitter user, hasn’t sent any messages out since Friday, the day of his arrest. But on Sept. 4, he addressed the accusations, calling them a lie.
“In this business, a lot of people want to damage your image,” he said in an interview with Telemundo, which can be watched below. "That’s what I’m living now […] It’s all lies and time will tell,” he said at the time. Hernandez also added that he was a public figure and wasn’t hiding from authorities.
Neither mun2 nor Hernandez’s label, Universal, have issued any statements, nor did they return calls or emails for comment.
