Yandel Is First Latin Artist to Live Stream Concert on Tidal; Boxing Champ Miguel Cotto to Produce
Tidal is about to get a taste of the "Calentura" for the first time. The music streaming service has partnered with Latin urban idol Yandel for an upcoming Dec. 12 concert, which will be live streamed from the Convention Center in San Juan. In doing so, Yandel is the first Latin artist of any genre to live stream an event on Tidal.
And he’s not doing it alone. Middleweight world boxing champion (and Yandel's fellow boricua) Miguel Cotto will produce the event via his partnership with Roc Nation Sports to promote concert events on the island.
“I am really excited and thankful for opportunity to work with Cotto Promotions, Tidal and Roc Nation,” said Yandel in a press conference. “It is an honor to become the first artist to represent not only my country, but also my music in an event of this magnitude with major sports and entertainment figures that I truly admire. This is without a doubt a new milestone in my career and an inspiration to continue to offer my fans music experiences with the quality that my audience deserves."
Cotto echoed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is a great day for me and Cotto Promotions and I am glad that we are able to debut our partnership with Tidal in Puerto Rico with an amazing talent and a good friend, Yandel. I thank everyone for their support and for taking the time to be with us on this special day.”
Before the Dec. 12 event, Yandel will perform live from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center during Cotto’s historic match against his Mexican counterpart, two-time world champ Canelo Alvarez. The Nov. 21 event will be distributed via HBO pay-per-view.
Yandel’s third solo album, Dangerous, is due Nov 6 via Sony. The Tidal live streamed concert Dec. 12 will wrap his current tour cycle throughout the U.S. and Latin America. If you're itching to watch Yandel perform before then, tune into the first-ever Latin American Music Awards Oct. 8 on Telemundo.
