Carlos Vives Crowns Latin Albums Chart With Live Set

Carlos Vives crowns Top Latin Albums (dated Aug. 29) with his first live effort, Mas + Corazon Profundo Tour: En Vivo Desde La Bahia De Santa Marta (2,000 copies sold in the week ending Aug. 13, according to Nielsen Music), earning his third No. 1 on the chart. The album, which was recorded in his native Colombia, is also available as a CD/DVD combo. The set includes tracks from his 2013 chart-topper Corazon Profundo, plus some of his biggest career hits including “La Tierra Del Olvido,” which reached No. 5 on Hot Latin Songs in 1995.

Gente de Zona Leads Latin Airplay: On Latin Airplay, Cuban duo Gente de Zona lands its first No. 1 as a lead act, with the ascent of “La Gozadera” featuring Marc Anthony (2-1; up 30 percent in audience to 13.6 million impressions in the week ending Aug. 16). The uptempo track also climbs to No. 1 on Tropical Songs and Latin Rhythm Airplay -- scoring its first chart-topper as a lead on both tallies.

Beyond 'Bailando': Getting to Know Cuba's Gente de Zona

Mana Marks 14th No. 1: Over on Latin Pop Songs, Mana steps 2-1 with “La Prision,” rising 12 percent in plays at the format, and securing the rock group’s 14th chart-topping hit. The climb keeps the band in third place for most No. 1s on the list, topped by Enrique Iglesias (21) and Shakira (14). The track remains at its current No. 27 peak on Hot Latin Songs for a second week.
