Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz & Laura Pausini will judge the Simon Cowell-produced competition show, starting Sept. 13.

La Banda (The Band), the music reality show looking for the next Latin boy band, will premiere Sept. 13 on the Univision network.

Executive-produced by Simon Cowell and ultimate boy-band alum Ricky Martin, La Banda will have contestants competing for a recording deal with Sony Music Latin and Simon Cowell’s SYCO Music. Contestants were chosen from auditions in more than five U.S. cities, plus Puerto Rico.

They’ll be judged weekly on a series of challenges by Martin, Alejandro Sanz and Laura Pausini, who’ve all been honing their judging skills with stints in reality shows in Mexico, Spain and Australia (for Martin).

Fans will also be able to vote via social media.

La Banda comes in the wake of renewed interest in boy bands regionwide.

“There is a generation in Latin America that is desperately waiting for something like this,” Martin told Billboard. “It’s a phenomena that happens every decade, and now is the time.”

Martin, of course, rose to fame as a singer with Menudo, a group he tried to join multiple times before being accepted.
