The premiere of Empire season 2 is just around the corner (Sept. 23), and with the release of the upcoming season’s first trailer, online chatter has reached a new level of intensity.

This week also revealed some exciting guest stars, including Mariah Carey and Pitbull. And let’s not forget Becky G, who will also have a guest role on Fox’s hugely successful hip-hop telenovela.

But surely there’s room for more Latino stars this coming season, and we can think of some great candidates, starting with Colombian phenom Maluma, whose 5 million followers on Instagram would certainly be a welcome addition to the show’s already massive tune-in audience.

Or what about Latin urban sensation J Balvin, whose new hit “Ginza” has been making waves since its premiere last month? Balvin’s fellow prank enthusiast Nicky Jam would be equally great on the show, bringing a dose of Puerto Rican swagger to the Empire boardroom.

The show would be remiss to ignore someone like bachata idol Prince Royce, whose new pop crossover album Double Vision only reaffirms his mainstream appeal. Maybe Royce and Pit can even share a scene together, since they clearly had a blast collaborating on Royce’s “Back It Up.”

Or what if Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) decided to sign and mentor a female banda artist trying to record her first R&B album (we’re looking at you, Chiquis Rivera)? It’d be a wise move, if you ask us.
